My AC clutch kicks on when it wants to in my 97 signature edition Lincoln

My AC clutch does not want to kick on when I turn
the AC on but we'll kick on by itself sometimes. I
can force the clutch to kick on by running a power
line from the battery to the relay and it will kick on
and blow cold I change the relay thinking it was the
relay and still does not kick on when it should I
could still Force it to kick on my Freon level is
where it's supposed to be what's going on guys
somebody told me it could be something
underneath the dash I need to replace

If compressor clutch is clicking on and off system low on freon put in freon until compressor clutch stops clicking and stays on.
