No there is no auto shut off, if the fuse is ok then it sounds as if the compressor may be bad...
yes, the auto shut off is in the trunk on the left or right side. bput it in the on position..loading groceries or anything else in the trunk it is easy to knock switch to off. If compressor still won't work, replace it, easy to do it yourself.
