note the diagram, You can see starter motor and starter relay on left side of diagram. You can see the wire colors. The relay is usually located, under the hood, passenger side, fender lining. Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. good luck

thanks a lot ! Actually I am looking for fuses which should be located in the wiring assembly and the reason for that is to check fuses beyond those inside left driver side; (some context : got the Bill Blass from US to Germany 2 weeks ago , 1990 model, 12.000 miles only, went thru TÜV and driving smoothly now); why to check fuses ? because of 3 reasons, 1) the airbag lamp stays on with code 4 (safing sensor or open circuit) which is weird enough given the TÜV guys would have not accepted the car ... and I guess it must be something which happened after the TÜV check which was only the transportation from N Germany to South , 2) "rear lamp out" is on all the time but all rear lamps are functioning properly and 3) the ON/OFF switching of the air suspension does not cause any mechanical move or message on the main driver dashboard, noting that the car has the original air suspension (not changed to springs). I have only the Owner Guide and ordered the others but they are still shipping. Oh yes, another thing which is confusing is about the fuses: The diagram in the Owner Guide shows diff Amp values than the ones in the car, namely fuses 10, 15, 6 by the manual should be 20, 10, 20 Amp but in the car are15, 15, 15 ! Already changed fuse 15 to reflect manual as these are about rear lights only, but did not dare to change the others yet as I am not sure ... What do you think about these issues ? The car is wonderful and perfectly preserved ;-) Again, thanks a lot for your recommendations and time !!

Guru95Y3Z8, Welcome. If we approach each item separately, we can get to the bottom of your issues. "1) the airbag lamp stays on with code 4 (safing sensor or open circuit) which is weird enough given the TÜV guys would have not accepted the car ... and I guess it must be something which happened after the TÜV check which was only the transportation from N Germany to South , " You're going to need an EVTM if you are doing the work yourself. 1990s are easy to work on as long as you have the Shop Manuals and first learn how the systems are SUPPOSSED to work. See, http://www.faxonautoliterature.com/1990-Lincoln-Mark-VII-Electrical-and-Vacuum- Troubleshooting-Manual--P11827.aspx "2) "rear lamp out" is on all the time but all rear lamps are functioning properly" Our tail lights have two filaments each bulb. If ONE of the eight filaments are out, we'll get this warning light. Replace them ALL as they were probably all installed at the same time back in Wixom, Michigan, USA :) "3) the ON/OFF switching of the air suspension does not cause any mechanical move or message on the main driver dashboard, noting that the car has the original air suspension (not changed to springs)." An original Air Suspension System is a good thing! Once you understand how the system is SUPPOSSED to work, you'll say, "That's it?" Do NOT let anyone talk you into converting the system to steel springs! Parts are readily available from https://www.RockAuto.com and there are owners in about eight countries (including Germany) that will attest to this. "Oh yes, another thing which is confusing is about the fuses: The diagram in the Owner Guide shows diff Amp values than the ones in the car, namely fuses 10, 15, 6 by the manual should be 20, 10, 20 Amp but in the car are15, 15, 15 !" ONLY ONLY ONLY use the fuse sizes listed in the EVTM! "What do you think about these issues ? The car is wonderful and perfectly preserved ;-) Again, thanks a lot for your recommendations and time !!" You are welcome. I think that these issues are normal for ANY Classic Car of this age. Addressing ONE issue at a time will net the greatest rewards. Your best resource will be The Lincoln Mark VII Club at https://www.TheLincolnMarkVIIClub.org Let us know when you've got the EVTM and those Shop Manuals.

Thanks a lot oldschoolone ! Shop manuals were ordered in December and waiting for them to arrive ... will resume when received.
