My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee loredo oil light is on and their is a little oil on ground but their is plenty of oil and it looks clean. Why could the light be on?

What could be causing the oil light to come on?

Low oil level, worn engine, worn oil pump, collapsed oil filter or bad oil sender are all possibilities. How many miles are on the Jeep?
