Sweetchellie Best Answer I found with my 01 that i had to replace the sensor in the column that recognizes the chip in the key. Because of the anti-theft system. If the key light on the dash doesnt go off after 10 sec of it just being in the on position im almost betting thats your problem or needs to be reprogrammed
