My car over heats on stop and going traffic for 1hr

When im in traffic for over 1 hr my car begins to
over heat its its stop and go traffic what is it just
changed thermostat...

Mine did same thing. Turned out the fan motor was not kicking off and on. Replacing it was pricey in my open. I noticed threads for a clutch fan. I went to a junk yard and got a clutch fan for $10 and threaded it on and it runs nonstop to cool engine. Problem solved without paying an arm and leg! But mine is a 2001, yours may or may not have the option to add clutch fan but certainly worth looking
