What is this rattling noise when I am moving?

Asked by Samuel Jan 10, 2015 at 12:13 AM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My boyfriends jeep makes a rattling noise
when rolling. It sounds almost like washers
on a rod jingling together as the rod rolls.
Have looked under the car and don't se
anything obviouse, however; I am not a
mechanic. The sound dose initially increase
in intensity with speed but will stay the same
after about 30.

Take a tech for a ride. verify and define the concern with the tech. get it safety checked for that issue especially before the road test. Be there to demonstrate. an exhaust part that is loose or a driveshaft issue may also act up while the vehicle is secure on safety stands while it is up. loose parts like shock absorbers or stabilizer bar parts can be loose or broken. Since it is a jeep, I don't know what your experience is like, but nothing is as surprising as what is ailing a jeep.
