Wrong PCM for replacement engine.

Asked by GuruF6K52 May 03, 2020 at 06:13 PM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently replaced my 2004 Jeep WJ  4.7 engine. Removed engine had a 16
tooth reluctor, Replacement engine turned out to have a 32 tooth reluctor. What
code do I need to get the correct /compatible replacement computor?

Maybe, just maybe you can swap out the reluctors. If you know the VIN of the car the engine came from you can get the correct ECU.

You realize that you have to pull the crankshaft to change the reluctor. Also I neglected to state that it was a rebuilt engine from Rock Island. Thanks for your suggestions.
