Overheating

My jeep will overheat every so often the
temp goes to the max but when I crank my
heat on the temp regulates. .what can be the
problem?

Replace thermostat, it's sticking in the closed position and water can't circulate, it only circulates when you turn heater on because it circulates through the heater lines
