If the lights stay on for a minute or two and then go off that is normal. If they won't turn off then it could be that the dome light has been switched to be on all the time or that you have a defective door switch.

When you lock the doors it should turn off. If not, a sensor could be broken and you should just manually turn them off when you leave the car.
