What makes my 02 Grand Cherokee act as if it is not getting fuel?

Asked by Baffled_in_GA Nov 29, 2015 at 02:19 PM about the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have changed out the fuel pump, filters, throttle positioning sensor, crank
shaft positioning sensor and any other sensor that has thrown a code but the
problem is still the same.  What are we missing?

Does the fuel pump run, and have fuel to pump? Does the fuel pressure meet specification? does the pressure reading stay up? If the engine starts, what is a good description of how and when it seems to not be getting fuel.? a fuel system that supplies well and passes tests, would then operate normally by the processor commanding the injectors and using the ASD relay to perform their function. Need more info. describe start, run, idle, revving it up, or driving, and what the fuel starvation like symptom is and how you say that is what it is like. The pinpoint tests when codes are serviced and cleared, but symptoms persist, can be obtained at the public library on auto data base. Like mitchell. it is pro, it is simplified by symptom as you select tests to read in "diagnosis by symptom" (no codes)

You can get a service manual to download at home or for devices. but that is an online purchase. The library is a dime a page to print. Your citizenship makes you eligible for free to obtain updates, service manual corrections, service bulletins, recalls, all the things your jeep dealer takes into consideration to make repair steps and decisions about them. You cannot download the talent or the experience of a tech, but you can see part of what he reads.

First you have to try and explain what it does, how you notice, Then the readers of this question may be able to share their ideas. Hope that helps you get more input.
