MY 2002 jeep grand cherokee loredo keep over heating with AC on.

Asked by Eddie Oct 07, 2015 at 08:00 PM about the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I changed the water pump, fan relay, thermostat, heat senor relay on the thermostat housing, new radiator. The Jeep over heats only when I turn on the AC if I stay idle I will start to over heat. If I'm driving the car does not over heat. When I turn on the AC the fan starts for a few seconds it turns off and then it starts again after a few seconds. The compressor is running but I noticed that the AC comes out warm when is idling but running I get cold air.

Is the compressor pulley turning freely with the AC on? Your compressor may be going bad. It might be stuck and causing the water pump belt to stick The compressor pulley only has resistance when the AC is on.
