I have a 2003 Grand Cherokee limited . I has a factory 4.7 liter high output v8 260 cubic inch. Does this help to know what the factory put in mine ? It gets up and goes . It has quadra drive . All the wheels just grab when you floor it and throws you in the seat . It is pretty quick (for a box on wheels) . It still steers like a brick - being a typical jeep .

These WJ Jeeps 1999-2004 had three engine options. There was a 4.0 liter six, a 4.7 liter V8, and a 4.7 liter High Output V8. The eighth digit of your VIN will be S, N, or J respectively. The "J" came along 2002-04. And yes, the V8's are very powerful and last a long time if you take care of them. I have the six and it does well too. You might want to note my gas mileage got 20% better by changing the gas filter which is also the fuel pressure regulator.
