Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Laredo 4.0. We had to replace a water
pump couple weeks ago. My dad
notice that my Jeep has 2 fans. My dad
has been a  mechanic all his life and
never seen a vehicle with 2 fan. This is
my first Jeep and haven't had it long.
Does anyone know why or is it
supposed to have 2 fans??

The 2nd fan is to help the AC. A lot of cars today have two cooling fans. Both will come on anytime the AC is on.

Well my dad was mostly a mechanic for big equipment for the mines and worked on cars. He's really not worked on Newer vehicle's, that's why he said he's never saw 2 fans on 2001 Jeep. Everyone else thanks for the answer about the fans..

hes talking about a viscous fan and an electric fan for heavy duty tow. Not the 2 side by side fan.
