Rubbing while driving and breaking

Asked by Oducksfan Dec 18, 2015 at 02:11 PM about the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey everyone. I have a 2001 Grand
Cherokee. Lately I've started to notice a
running type or if you will vibration/rubbing
while driving. It seems to be on the driver
side front wheel. When I apply the brake it
gets even louder and I can feel it vibrating
through the entire vehicle. We recently did
all new pads, calipers, rotors, brake lines,
the works. I'm beginning to think its a
wheel bearing. Any suggestions?

First check to see if the lug nuts are tight. There is a reason we tell you to check the lug nuts for tightness. Been there done that. Then I would jack up the front of the vehicle and turn by hand the wheel to see if you can feel any play or roughness in the bearing. Also make sure the caliper has not come loose.
