Trouble with a Jeep Grand Cherokee 1999 limited edition

Asked by 9tiedye1 Jul 24, 2015 at 04:32 PM about the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok, two problems.
1. My girlfriend and I changed the alternator together yesterday and that went smoothly
but when we went to put the serpentine belt back on there was NO diagram anywhere.
We are pretty sure we got it on right but now one of the wheels are not turning. we tried
to pull it by hand and it wont budge.  it's the largest one on the bottom, any help here
would be great.

2. The transmission is having trouble going from neutral to drive or reverse, It takes
toggling the gear shift into first then through second and into drive, any ideas on what
could be the problem?

If you have any ideas for either question we would be happy to hear it.

As far as the routing of the serpentine belt you can go to most part stores like auto zone and they will print you out a copy of how belt should go. No thoughts at this time on the transmission issue.
