99 Jeep Grand Cherokee electrical

Asked by Galaxy_870 Jan 30, 2017 at 07:49 PM about the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello all, for some time now my 99 JEEP Grand Cherokee
has been acting up. First it will start by the Air Bag and
Check Engine lights flashing on and off randomly. Then
some more may flash on and off. Then at some point
when I'm driving my car will just turn off. The steering will
locks, I can't press on the breaks. But I'll shut the car off
and turn it back on and it won't do that again. After that all
the gauges will stop working and all the lights will stay on.
But usually when we unplug the battery and leave it off
overnight, the problem will pretty much reset and the
problem will start over again.

Let the problem happen again. Every time you pull the battery cable your clearing the DTC, Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Then go to like Auto Zone and have the vehicle scanned for codes. This will let you know what is going on. Write down the trouble codes, post them back here for further assistance if need be.

Our autozone doesn't tests codes anymore sadly. But I don't think a code will show up. We tested with our scanner and none have came up. We are going to take it to a friend who has a more advanced scanner to see if it will throw some codes.
