has jumped time

It would be back firing, but there are other causes to cause a back fire. Chances are it is not with it jumping time since it has a timing chain in the engine.

My Jeep just started to chatter or labor knock I thought and it lost power and died

There are so many things that would have to be looked at, I would have the Jeep scanned for any trouble codes. This would let you know what to look at. An auto parts store can do this.
