My car will not shift from low part time 4wheel to 2 wheel drive why??

can you hear the t-case make noise when you shift it? Or is it stuck? you want vehc. to be roling abt 3mph when shifting. if it shifts but stays in low. the range fork is bad inside t-case. this happens due to low fluid levels. now if it has a 242 t-case...these will bind up and not shift. the tires have to be within a 1/4 in. you have to wrap a string around the tire and compair all the tires. If you drive it on uneven surface, Like in the dirt, it should release. hope this helps....
