Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Intermittently my 95 jeep grand Cherokee 5.2L begins to lose power and runs very rough. When I try to accelerate the engine backfires. Most of the time if I continue to drive it will smooth out and run great. The only code displayed is 22 (ect error). Any suggestions?

I had a 93 that got worse and worse and with vapor lock what I ended up doing was changing the fuel pump out in the gas tank my guess would be the best way to check it is too whenever it starts running rough to cut it off right then go under the hood and push the valve stem in on your fuel rail if it spits out Air instead of steady fuel then you know it is vapor locking but be careful don't catch yourself on fire the safe thing to do would be to take it to a mechanic in 2001 the fuel pump on my 93 was $100 plus it took me a few hours to change it out
