Stuck and shifter moves but won't get out of gear or shifter frozen?

If the shifter is very loose the your link may have come off or broke off the lever. If automatic you can put in drive by shifting the lever on the transmission. Do this only if it is safe to do so

I agree with Michael, you can do that but as he said, it can be, no, IS dangerous. Do NOT do that unless you have somebody with their foot on the brake. Do not be alone.

I'm not sure I think I might have the same problem. I have a 2009 jeep grand cherokee I'll start it up and drive sometime days and sometimes hours and when I come to a stop and and go to drive it seem to be in low gear cause it will struggle to go over 20 mph and the gear box wont move to 1 2 3 4 on dash I can move the shifter to P R N AND back to D. When I turn the car off and start it back up again it works just fine.

the lever is the selec trac transfer case lever which controls 2 wd to 4wd, the transmision is stuck in low 4wd, and the lever has no resistance when shifting from low 4wd to high 2wd gear, feels like it is not engaged.

I'm having the same issue with my 2009 north patriot. It gets stuck in lower gear and won't go over 20 kms/hour. Has anyone had this issue/solved it?
