2001 Audi A4 1.8t won't start back up

I recently bought a 2001 Audi A4 1.8t and it started
and drove about 40 miles back home. Once I
parked it, I went back to start it a few hours later
and it won't start. It makes a noise like it's almost
starting but it won't turn over all the way. It's not the
battery because it has a new one.
