First off, the leak is probably due to clogged plenum drains (under the battery tray). As for the kicking, the transmission ecu is under the passengers carpeting, in a plastic box. You will find it soaking wet. The module will probably need replacement, and also pay close attention to the harness connections, as they will not work if corroded. Easy way to see that there's a fault code in the transmission is that the display will be "reversed, i.e., background is lit up and letters now appear dark. This needs to be scanned by an appropriate scan tool such as Ross tech Vagcom.
