Audi a6 slow takeoff

Asked by Tp18 Feb 13, 2016 at 10:48 AM about the 2003 Audi A6 4.2 quattro Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Audi a6 4.2 Quattro which I haven't
driven since November . When I finally drove it
yesterday,  the acceleration was unusually slow.  I
basically had to press the gas all the way to the
metal for the car to start rolling.  The engine is
revving as if I'm going 60 mph when I'm only
taking off.  After the initial acceleration from idle, it
accelerated just fine and was as fast as usual.
Any idea what the problem is?

Sounds to me like the brakes are hanging up. Drive it around and try to noticed if it does this more after sitting at a stop light and goes away if you don't brake as often.

You might check your coil packs as well. I had one that was going bad when I first got my A6 and it did something similar, finally when it went completely it was in limp mode, but before that it seemed to be trying to get there but took time.

Could be just a sensor my car did that or a tune up
