Asked by Cecil Nov 15, 2022 at 10:02 AM about the 2003 Audi A4 1.8T quattro Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Audi went into.a snowditch pon Feb 1st
this last year .had problems finding anyone to
work on it and finally found a garage in North
Lewisburg Ohio that said they could repair it
but after weeks of them saying they were
waiting on the diagnostic guy to show them
how to reset the sensors .They called me and
said their was nothing else they could do and
I owed them $1210.00 but they would toe it
anywhere I liked after payment .I feel that that
had no right to work on my car then decide
not to complete the job. Also have have them
2 recommendations that were given to me
and they ignored it saying it had to come
from the diagnostic crew .now I'm lost any
dadvise.up till then I love the car ride and the
looks of it .very well taken care of interior and
exterior

Find a new mechanic who car repair the car for you. But if you don't like it, and you can drive the car and there are no fault codes, then trade it in on something newer. Any other issues the dealership can easily spot, they will of course give you less on trade.

This is the problem with imports. If the shop doesn't specialize in them, you can bet they know nothing about the vehicle! Here's the other problem. When you have a vehicle worked on a mechanic's lien is placed on the vehicle until you pay for the repairs. But if they don't have an itemized receipt of the parts and labor that were supposedly put on the vehicle to justify the amount of the bill you have a legal case against the shop. However, if this were me, I'd tell them to keep the 20 year old vehicle. I'd go buy something else. That $1210 is much better spent toward something newer and in better condition. Once that happens the shop will try to get a mechanic's title to sell the vehicle. If the vehicle sells for less than what you owe the shop they can sue you for the rest of the money owed plus storage fees. If the vehicle sells for more than you owe plus storage fees they have to send you a check for the difference. There will also be legal fees involved which they'll try to get you to pay for as well. But I really don't think most shops will go through the hassle of all this for a $1210 bill especially if you let them know you're not afraid to go to court because you never authorized the repairs and they had the vehicle for an excessive amount of time before they told you they couldn't fix it! Good luck to you! Hope that helps! Jim

Audis are a finicky fancy VW and if your ABS is the sensor or brake usually the sensor is in the incorrect side, yes on this model you can install both sides on either, the wrong side or the right side. A lot of "shops" are not looking out for the customer, instead trying to support their lifestyle.these cars are not super hard to work on once youve cracked one open, space and tight tolerances and temperamental electrical connections. Look around on youtube and might be able to handle this your self. Hope that helps and gets you the deaired outcome w/o the huge pricetag

I did one of these once and ended up w brake lining (sensor) and ABS using some cheap brand x parts and this was the outcome Audi parts and problem fixed itself. Scan it and get back to us w the codes or what its saying
