started an audible warning
came on, without  a Warning
light. It sounds for
approximately 1 minute and
then goes silent for the rest
of the trip. What could cause
this phenomenon.

you could have a dash light out which is not unheard of in the older audis. it could be your seatbelts tho it is often that when uncliped your car will chim at you for up to a few minutes before falling silent.
