1999 gmc, was running fine, now the gas gauge doesn't work and will only start up and go back dead, replaced the fuel pump, all fuses and relays. ??

Two, probably separate, issues. The guage is could be the result of a bad sender unit in the tank. The "start-then-stop" symptom could be fuel related but could also be electrical (coil pole piece, sensor, etc). Are you getting any diagnostic codes that would indicate a failure (can be checked at local auto parts store)? Also, are you sure you have enough fuel in the tank.........?
