1998 gmc sierra starting problem

i replaced the steering column in my truck now it starts thens shuts offf within
seconds do i have a security issue cuz the truck ran before i replaced the
column

Did you change out the ignition lock cylinder so you have your original key? IF NO the RFID key is the problem.

i don't have the original steering column anymore but i still have the original key what can i do about this???

You will need to buy a ignition lock cylinder. Call the discount auto stores, and then if you have the skills disassemble it and set the tumblers to fit your original key if you don't the cost will be approx $200 to have the new KEY programed into the vehicles computer.
