1995 5.0 Engine Hiccup

Asked by Christopher Jan 08, 2021 at 10:24 AM about the 1995 GMC Sierra 1500 C1500 SLE Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 1995 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.0 V8. The truck only has 12,400
miles and has had consistent maintenance under my ownership. There was a
slight oil leak that turned out to be coming from the real main seal and the
head gasket. When I drive it on the highway and step on it a little bit to go from
60 to 70, the engine hiccups and cuts out for a brief moment and gives a little
shudder. At city speeds, it's not really a problem unless I step on it, too. Does
anyone know what this might be and how I can go about diagnosing/fixing it?
Thanks!

If you know you have a rear main seal issue why would you drive it down road. Your just asking for issues! Good way to burn it up! You could be better off just parking it until you are ready for garage. I have a non operations reg on mine because same issues.

Sorry I should have specified! I got both issues fixed and it no longer leaks oil. This thing with the engine is still happening, though

I would estimate you have a dead piston then. When was your last plug change?? Plugs do go bad on occasion.. routine maintenance ( along with your fuel pressure regulator). I like to change mine out every 18 months
