Does this sound like a temp sensor problem?

Asked by Bubbles58 Aug 08, 2017 at 05:59 PM about the 1995 GMC Sierra 1500 C1500 SL Standard Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1995 GMC Sierra 1500 5.7 litre 2 barrel carb with an injector over each
barrel.  I pulled into a gas station and fueled up. when I cranked it to leave, it
hit once acted like the fuel shut off, just cranked.  I tried it a couple more
times, it acted the same.  So I sat there about ten minutes, then pulled the
breather top and removed the air filter so I could see into the carb.  I had my
wife crank it and it started.  I drove it home (about a mile) and shut it off.
Tried to start it again and it did the same as at the gas station.  I went inside
for about 20 minutes and tried it again.  It started just fine.

Sounds like a EVAP issue. Over filled it or charcoal canister bad/dirty/saturated or EVAP solenoid not working or vacuum problem there or elsewhere.

If it also dies when warm after already running then it may be a Distributor Pick-Up Assembly. These can be heat sensitive when older. It will cause it to to die and not crank up after warm, dies while warm then will not crank for 15-30 minutes until cooled off, longer on hotter days.
