Van shuts down 5 minutes after start up

Asked by Marsha Apr 27, 2011 at 11:39 AM about the 1999 Dodge RAM Van 1500 Cargo RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I start the van it will shut down after 5-7 minutes--once it's warmed up.  Then it won't restart but cranks over great!  Changed the coils, catalytic converter, distributor and other items.  I can hear the fuel pump turn on upon starting.  How about the ignition coil wires, plugs/wires, crank sensor, EGR Valve--anything else?  I'm putting more money into it than what it's worth! Nobody knows what it is--it's all a guessing game!  Thank you for any input in advance.

carberator or fuel injection... sounds like carberator and flutter valve is stuck closed or near closed in the top of the carb... Take off the aircleaner and stick your comb down in and start again ???
