Not starting

My 91 3.0l Ford ranger wouldn't start I changed ICM and
ignition coil it started then I drove it .the check engine light
came on and it just cut off.i sprayed stater fluid in it still
didn't try to start.should it have started when I sprayed
stater fluid in it if only for a second.and can't find anyone
wth the adapter to put on computer because it's so
old.please help

If it was a fuel issue, it would've started but looks like it's something else. Check for spark
