Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello I need help finding out what might be wrong with my truck. its a 1991 Ford
ranger 3.0 sport cap long bed. now i have replaced the battery no more than 6
months ago and it passed all of Autozones tests, the starter looks beat up dont
know when it was replaced but it passed all of Autozones tests as well, the
alternator is no more than a year or so old but it passed all of Autozones tests and
it has kept the battery charged, i have replaced the solenoid on the passenger side
of the engine compartment no more than a week ago. We have tried starting it in
neutral and it still wouldn't start. I have taken a screwdriver to the solenoid on the
start and in the engine compartment and they both spark. I have Cleaned off the
terminals as well as the main ground on the engine block.

Now when i try to start the truck i have all my normal lights in the truck turn on. I
get a check engine, oil, and battery light turn on. When i crank the key i can hear
the fuel pump kick in and a click from the solenoid, but it doesnt want to turn
over.

Please Help Me
Thanks
Kevin

sounds like it could be the neutral safety switch.. try holding the brake and trying to start the truck in gear.. i think some of the switches are actually adjustable if you loosen the bolts that hold the switch you might be able to move the switch enough to adjust it.

Papa, i took the starter in and had it tested it tested it passed along with crossing the positive and negative on the solenoid thats on the starter and it sparked so i dont think its the starter. i will replace it if this continues though.

Dont trust their test, they dont test under a load.I still think that or your battery is bad.

Just curious. I see this is 2 years ago. What did you wind up doing with it? Or what was the problem?
