gas leak when pumping

Every time I pump gas I smell gas and notice it leaking and then it stops. its coming from where the hose is attached to the tank. cream color hard plastic thing. I've been told I have to replace the whole tank. is there some time of poxy glue that will seal the whole for now? I need it to pass Smog

A new tank is probably your only option. You could play around with epoxy and hope for the best if you have the time to mess with it. Fixing it correctly is really the way to go when you are carrying around 20 gallons of high explosives in the tank.

You should be able to replace only the fuel pump and module (housing), I would assume that's where the break is by your description unless there is indeed something up with your tank. I agree with F_O_R, anytime you play with gas you're looking for trouble.
