Roof Rack

Asked by Brendon May 27, 2008 at 06:36 PM about the 1992 Ford Taurus GL Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The original roof rack has broken and I need to replace it. Parts to be replaced are the sliding cross members and the strips that run the lenght of the roof that the cross members fit into. I know that I will need to go to and pick and pull/dismantlers for it.
I need to know how the rack is attached to the roof as I don't see any obvious anchor points.

The "runners" that are attached to the roof are held there by bolts. You may have to remove the headliner in order to get to the bolts. You might be lucky enough to have platic caps inside the cabin that can be removed in order to get to the bolts. Good luck!
