Smoke from under hood? Your A/C compressor has seized and the serpentine belt burning up trying to turn the frozen pulley is the odor and smoke. Or do you mean smoke from tailpipe?

Found two ways to change belt..one sure is much more difficult that the other. This one is tagged 2003 http://www.ehow.com/how_6548127_replace-belt-2003-pt-cruiser.html and this one looks much easier: http://www.ehow.com/how_5833657_replace-serpentine-belt-pt-cruiser.html ...but don't change to new belt until you figure out what is happening..the A/C could be working but something obviously is not right..make sure tension is good

I have a 2009 PT Cruiser and it started smoking inside like burning rubber. I didn't have the radio on and I didn't have the car air conditioner and when I let it rest for about a week and I start it up it all seems to be fine but I'm still scared to drive it
