2001 PT Cruiser coolant light

Asked by John Jun 25, 2016 at 12:26 AM about the 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife's 2001 PT is occasionally giving a coolant
light and last time started getting hot.  Only
happens when driving in town and when she shuts
it off for about 30 minutes light goes out. All ready
changed temp sensor and checked that fan is
working on both speeds. Plan on bleeding system
tomorrow.  Should I go ahead and replace
thermostat and radiator cap?  Like I said this isn't
happening everyone she drives the car. Maybe
once a week while driving in town and only once so
far dealing with it getting hot.  At a loss since not
getting any codes
