2006 Honda Civic DX

Asked by Leticia Jul 24, 2018 at 03:03 PM about the 2006 Honda Civic DX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Honda Civic Sedan. About 5 times
over the last few weeks my car just flat out wouldn’t
start. As soon as I got a jump my car was fine. I
went and had my battery tested they said it was
fine. I went once more then auto zone said the
battery was bad. Bought a brand new battery. Went
back and had my alternator tested and they said it
was fine. Since replacing my battery, it has not
started twice. I wake up in the morning and it’s just
dead. I have no idea what’s going on. Does anyone
have any suggestions for me? I went to a shop in
town and they said they could not find anything
wrong when they ran it on their machine. I even let
them keep it over night and the next day it started
for them. So they don’t have a clue. Any advice???

Did you ever find out what the problem with your car was @Leticia? My daughter's car is currently in the shop now and its been 3 days already. Her car did the same thing and we just bought a new battery, and since it's been in the shop,k they also replaced the AC Compressor and now it still won't crank over! GRRRR!!

YES! It was the starter. After many failed attempts taking the car to the shop and nobody being able to find the problem I changed the starter. After speaking to a few people and the same issue happening I finally decided to just change it myself. Since then nothing has happened. Car is starting always! The way someone had told me I could tell if it was the starter was if it is not starting to turn it over and over quickly. So on and off on and off on and off without completely trying to gas it on just on off on off and if it cranks on after a few attempts then it is the starter. Hope this is it for you as it was an easy fix! Good luck.

If your starters bad usually when you turn the key either A- nothing happens or B- it will just click n if you get your car jumped and it still doesn't start usually its a bad starter if you get a jump n your car starts but when shut off won't start again it's usually the battery n if you get a jump n it's dies right after then it's usually the alternator...a bad starter won't drain your battery if your battery is draining but the battery test good 9 times out of 10 your ALTERNATOR is the problem..Don't take this the wrong way but If the shops you took your car to couldn't figure out you had a bad starter or alternator then their idiots n shouldn't even be aloud to change oil in cars..
