Alternator

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

6 mo. old rebuilt alternator drops off line when
engine is warm, drive around town for :10 min.
Works fine when engine is cooler. If during
alternator failure a load is put on, like a blower fan,
the alternator starts working again, as soon as the
load is taken off, the alternator drops off line again.
Could it be the built in voltage regulator inside the
altetnator, or maybe signals from the ECM, the car's
computer, fed to the voltage regulator ?

don't buy rebuilt crap , get a new unit (that they never have in stock ) or find an AC delco OEM parts distributor they're a little less than the dealer , you get what you pay for , I've gotten crap from napa that lasted 13 months , if you replace he alt make sure the batt is charged , don't make a new alt do it
