Why doesMy 2005 Taurus shuts off while driving, but will restart after putting in park

Asked by Louisem216 Jun 20, 2016 at 08:09 PM about the 2005 Ford Taurus SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car engine stops while driving. It will restart after put in park. Happens a few
times when stopping at a red light or stop sign.  Then will drive a few days
before happening again. Also when I open car door, interior lights don't come
on. At times door locks and windows will not go down unless I open and shut
door hard (happens more times than not).
I see at night when headlights on garage wall seem to slightly flicker as well.
Please help! Thank you.

Start by, having the battery tested 12.6 volts? load test it to based on CCA (amps) .. Next, check all connections to the battery IF not corroded or loose and grounds are good... Move on and have the vehicle read for DTC icodes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down
