Should be compression fittings, make sure they are tight. As an alternate way, you could add an external transmission cooler and cool your transmission through that by running high pressure rubber lines from your existing steel lines to the cooler. This will bypass the radiator all together. It is a closed loop flow. One is supply and the other is the return. Most auto stores will have external trans coolers and can help you select a size that will efficiently cool your transmission. $40 - $60 repair. Hope this was helpful.
