I was filling Freon in my 2004 Taurus yesterday the compressor stated to work as I added 1 can , the Freon took longer than usual to empty the can ,1 small can , it was at 10lbs and drop as the compressor kicked on. I added a second can and was going in slowly , I went in the house for 10 minutes came out and the compressor was smoking , I shut the engine off and the belt snapped. I tried to start the car before I knew the belt snapped and was wondering if I could do any damage since the car would no longer turn over.

I have ordered a new compressor and belt , with this cause the car not to start as well?
