thermostat (heating/cooling)

Asked by XLR_3052 Jan 21, 2016 at 01:53 PM about the 2002 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife's 2002 Taurus heater will not get hot. I replaced the thermostat, but it only gets warm. While driving the temp needles goes up and down.  For some reason, thermostats do not last long in this car; this is, at least, the 3rd one I've put in in the past 5 years.

If you live where it is really, really cold, you may need to block off part of the radiator to get the car to warm up.
