When your vehicle dies all of the instrument clusters lights will come on just as if you were about to start it, this is normal. try holding the gas pedal down just a bit when you feel like its going to die out. If it will run when you 2 foot it the idle air motor is probably the cause. It is on top of the engine at the throttle body and is easy to replace with simple tools. It may also give an engine code for an underspeed error if it's really bad.
