My Mom had a new battery put in her Taurus (2002??). Since then every once and a while it won"t start. She will wait a few minutes and then it does start. She had the starter replaced last week but yesterday, it again refused to start. She waited a few minutes and then it started. What could this be? She is 87. Needs to be able to depende on her car.

Double check all battery connections to in sure they are tight and clean. Also check ground connection to the frame and block for the same.

Won't crank or cranks but won't start? If it won't crank, go back to the shop that replaced the starter and demand that they repair their mistake (if they diagnosed the starter as bad). Cranks but won't start (or run) is a whole different ball game. Then you're looking at no spark or no fuel delivery problem.
