a/c will not come on?

Have you ever "overfilled" your gas tank? If fuel backs up in the filler pipe and flows over the edge, there is a sensor that is tripped. On my 2002 Focus, this also had the effect of messing up the A/C operation. I only get A/C with the selector turned to "defroster" and the fan on 2, 3, or 4. Try that, and see what you get. If you do get A/C this way, you can have the sensor replaced at the dealer to the tune of 600-700, as they have to empty and drop the fuel tank to get to where the sensor is. Best of luck!
