Can I top off my Car?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Ford 500 AWD 6cl, I noticed the oil life was at 0% last night, my wife took the car this morning and the car stopped. Can I top off with engine oil until I get the oil changed?

Oil life monitor indicates it is time for an oil change. It does not indicate the level of the oil. If the oil is at the proper level it won't hurt a thing to drive it. I would get the oil and filter changed as soon as possible.

Thanks to Tom, I missed the part about the car stopped running. Something else may be going on.

The car was towed so I did the following, I checked the oil level it was real low and I also checked the transmission fluid level it seem ok not low but added some to be safe. I added the oil and drove it for awhile an in a half mile the car slowed and the engine light with tool came on fail safe engine systems. I shut it off for about 10 min. and drove it home ... later I restarted the car no errors etc... It still reads 0% oil life
