Hello Luis1980-- The pcv valve on your 2002 Ford Explorer is found on the back side of the valve cover, near to the firewall. It can be found among a maze of hoses. When you find it you can remove it by turning a half turn counterclockwise and pulling it out. Good luck from Bovan.

This true. Itis on the furthest end of the driver side valve cover facing the fire wall. A large think insulated hose feeds into it. Be sure to turn it half turn counter clock wise to release. Randall Ceniceros-Fontana

Where is it located, and what function does it perform on the emissions?

I thought [might not have] asked about the pvc valve on an '02 Explorer creating the call for the check engine statement on the dash area. What to do, an what it is responsible for the emission part of the general Explorer systems?

On the brake lights, mine did the same thing. If you put your tilt wheel in the up range they will work. Mine would pinch the wire when i would put the steering wheel down.
