2002 Ford Explorer V8 - Won't go over 20 km/hr

Asked by Kathleen Oct 18, 2019 at 05:10 PM about the 2002 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had a misfire on cylinder 6 and belt was squeaking. We changed the spark
plugs, belt and 2 pulleys. Codes have been cleared but cannot get it to go over
20 km/hr. What else could be wrong if there are no codes?

Codes were not as specific in 2002 then they are now. It sounds like you have some restricted air flow on either the input or output side. Check for a plugged muffler or catalytic converter on the output side and an air restriction like a dirty air filter on the input side.
