Did the original starter turn? Are you sure the battery is charged?

Yes she said sometimes it started and sometimes it didn't and the garage said it was the starter..but I'm scared my buddy didn't put the starter in right I had a battery in it and try ed having it jumped

If it's an exact replacement starter the wiring should be "straight -forward ... if it still just "Clicks" then have your friend remove the bolts and replace them with bolts about a couple inches longer so he can slide the starter back far enough so it clears the flywheel... then turn the key for a second ( this should ensure that the starter is ok and is not jamming on the teeth of the flywheel) once you determine that then reinstall the starter with the proper bolts but to be sure that he is not jamming the starter housing against the flywheel .. do not fully tighten the bolts ... just snug ... tap the key again to be sure it turns freely

There is possibly a solenoid relay bolted to the fender well close to the battery, it could be bad. Check the net for the procedure to jump the relay (for a second only) to see if the engine turns. If it does, replace the relay.
